IT jobs website Computerjobs.ie has published results this morning of their survey of 18,000 IT professionals, and the future is bright.

83% of respondents said they were ‘Confident’ or ‘Very Confident’ about their employability over the next 12 months.

20% of those who are out of work do not have a 3rd level qualification, indicating the importance of 3rd level education in this sector.

Only 6% of IT Engineers have seen their salaries decrease over the last 12 months.
72% feel they are either “underpaid” or “not sure” if they are being paid the ‘Going rate’.

Only 7% of IT Engineers think their employer will be letting IT staff go in the next 12 months.

According to the survey results, the main things employers need to do in order to keep their talented staff are: ‘More money’ 44%,  ’More training’ 19%  and ‘More respect’ 11%.

Across the happiness index, 94% of IT Professionals say they are either ‘Very happy”‘or  ‘Happy enough’ with their choice of career 2012.

And finally, job websites continue to be the No.1 source of finding IT jobs.
67% say they either “don’t rate”or are “not sure” of social media as a source for finding IT jobs.
